If all of the boats stayed in when the crossings were rough, we would miss many dive days.

My experience has been that the captains know their boats and they know what to call "too rough". A rough crossing does not mean rough dive conditions in the shelter of an island. We hit some rough weather yesterday, some wind and rain but the diving itself was quite nice in the coves. Some of the best diving I have ever done in has California has involved withstanding some impressive wind and waves to get there.

If you start making broad generalizations you are really limiting our sport. California diving is California Diving. If you want tropical diving go to Bonaire. If you dive in CA realize that there is a big channel between here and Catalina and some people are more prone to sea sickness than others - but it will hit us all at one time or another.
