I went to the F&G website, to the commercial fishing regulations (yawn) and I couldn't find where it says that there is no commerical fishing on the front side of Catalina. I found the part about where a gill net would not be legal at Ship Rock but that is all that I could find. There is an area at Catalina listed as closed with GPS numbers but I don't think that the GPS of Ship Rock is in that area.
Maybe someone who is more familiar with the regs could see what they can find.
