Why stop one of the few services the government is quite good at! The NOAA forecasts are important to many communities, including the diving establishment. I strongly urge you not to stop this service and put it in the private sector. This should also not be a service for which you add on a charge. Our tax dollars should pay for something.
I do suggest you privatize Amtrak. Perhaps then a first class passenger won't get a note in his room that there might not have been adequate time to clean the room. I don't pay first class rates for third class service, and I've never used Amtrak since. Prior to this report you've probably been wondering why this particular govt. service doesn't show a profit. Hopefully I've provided a clue.
