I think everyone ought to carry a small plastic signal mirror that can alert a boat or plane. A proper one can be manually aimed and even flash in code to the intended receiver. In fact, it would even have the instructions for proper use right in the mirrored surface. It would weigh ounces and be virtually neutral. And if that was not enough, it could even have personalization lasered into it for the diver or even the store or chamber that sold it.
