At least 7mm, with multiple layers. I use a 3 piece skin-in (Oceanliner) AquaFlite wetsuit; farmer john, hooded vest, and jacket. I can stay warm for multiple dives with this wetsuit. The skin-in suit is much warmer than a plush wetsuit.
