I dive a OMS IQ w/ SS back plate, an excel 7/5 semi-dry suit, and I use a single steel 120 bottle. I went with the OMS for the tech diving options it offers but the SS back plate for the weight I could remove. I have found I ditched 5#. The good / bad thing is now with the SS backplate and the steel tank I have very little weight to drop in an emergency. As far as the choice between Aluminium and SS. . . Go with the SS
