When the kids are there (and they're always there!), there are plenty of moments where there are big smiles on both sides of the acrylic. Just as well as some (mostly smaller children) start crying when they see the diver. They run and hide behind their parents' legs, and cry. And the parents are usually the ones that laugh (some just being embarrassed).
I like your mismatch idea.
