SLANG,

I see it a little differently. My view in using your QR analogy is that by using a QR you are accessorising a piece of life support gear and by so doing you are adding an unnecessary failure point.

Chris' logic is suggesting that since a bc may fail you should simply do without it to begin with, completely ignoring the fact that you are increasing substantially the possibility of a problem to merely eliminate the possibility that a bc could fail..

By a greater extension of that same logic one could suggest that a tank valve or a burst disk could leak so maybe one should dive without a tank.. Chris and I have had many conversations about the lack of a bc and I wasn't trying to open that can of worms, although for the record I denounce the practice, but I was focusing in on the defense of a dangerous practice by suggesting a bc isn't needed because it represents a potential failure point..
