I have no idea the answer to that, but it is really economically nice for the oil companies if they dont have to spend the money to remove the platforms. Amazing if corporate interests coincide with enviornmentally sound practices.

PS. If you didn't hear, there was wind the weekend of the dive you couldn't make. They had to stay backside Santa Rosa. Mel got the biggest bug of the trip at 5.8 pounds. He also blew out his computer so they wouldn't let him scuba dive so he swam to shore near Gull Island and got 6 more legals... Well, tht's Mel for you.
