if i have to push that big, bulky housed camera of mine, then yes, i do put my arms in front, with the camera (i think, but do not know for certain) creating the slipstream into which the rest of me fits. Doing this proved its worth once when i caught up with a school of barracuda while all the other divers were holding onto whip corals.

Without a camera, i keep my hands at my sides. I have always thought that stretching my arms in front causes more problems than its worth, at least for me personally (especially in a tight, restrictive wetsuit). I'm sure there will be others who can offer a countering opinion, but keeping my hands at my sides works for me /w/ my config.
