Arno, if the only thing stopping you from switching your octo to an under-the-chin position is money, you have alternatives. The very first DIR modification I did involved having Terry show me how to wrap a dollar's worth of surgical tubing around my octo to use as a chin strap. Even without the 5' or 7' primary hose, this is still a much safer intermediary step than what you are currently using. Hope that helps.
