Notice I didn't talk DIR solutions only. The DIR solution is good. The weight whether it is double tanks or a v weight is right against your body. The pockets in the back of the Zeagle Ranger also put the weight against your body. There are some back inflate BCs in which the ONLY way to get a single aluminum to work is to hang a tank weight at the back of the tank. (I own such a BC although I haven't actually dove it much since I got my backplate and harness). On that BC you are forced farther down in the water because the weight is farther behind your back. That in turn tends to swamp your snorkel more often.
