everytime i go deep (which hasn't been the case since last August) i get into the mindset that i am descending directly into harm's way. I expect to get narced, and thus plan on heading back up as soon as the least little bit of tipsiness, chills, current, shortness of breath etc etc occur. Also, i figure that each little task will take on a gargantuan complexity at depth, so i try to be extra mindful of everything, from holding my gauges in my hand and looking at the darn things every 30 seconds to clipping my light back onto my BC. I've always simply thought of it as simple caution with the knowledge that my functioning may be impared, rather than paranoia.
