Just wondering if anyone diving Catalina this weekend saw someone on their boat come up with a speargun and no spear. I was leading a group through the Giant Black sea Bass today and came across one with a shaft in his back. Some asshole shot one of these gentle, "PROTECTED" fish. This was one of a group of 25 or more we dive with almost daily and they are never afraid of divers. I have macro shots of the parasites on their faces becdause I can get so close with a camera. Today, I couldn't get closer than 15 feet to any of them and then in the distance,I saw one of the midsized ones (4 1/2 feet) with a spear shaft in his back. The shooting line was still attached, bet severed about 2-3 feet away from the shaft.
If anyone has any information about the jerk that did this please call California Fish and Game to let them know.......
