You took the words out of my mouth. It is
mandatory for all Padi Instructors to us a descent
line for the the first two open water dives, for
all the reasons you outlined.
The other two dives call for a free descent.
By that time, the students know what to expect
and are more comfortable in the water.
The more comfortable they are, the better they
learn. This is a fact!!!!!
