Personally,I fill my drysuit (Zeagle) only enough to eliminate the squeeze and/or push away the cold. I use my BC for boucancy control.

The reason is that in an unplanned (aka uncontrolled ascent) I can vent the BC MUCH quicker than I'll ever be able to vent the drysuit.

For a normal ascent, I start by venting the drysuit, then vent the BC as I go up, vent the drysuit again, keep venting the BC, etc.

This definitely flies in the face of the advice that I know that DUI and PADI give, but it's something that I'm not only comfortable with but which also seems to make a lot of sense to me. (And, most importantly, it works.)
