Its very important to get the suit dialed in. We've discused problems with having to much gas in the suit but not issues related to not having enough.
One of the obvious is not having enough gas to allow the undergarments for them to work properly. This limits thermal protection which can create a number of physiological problems such as limiting offgasing due to vasal constrition, likelyhood of CNS toxicity increase, increased narcosis, CO2 retention, increase RMV.

Another is in physical restritions. The "Shrink Wrap" effect from not having enough gas , inhibiting movement. Movement is critical and divers need to be able to respond quickly and sharply. Management of the tank valve(s), simple regulator retrievals become next to impossible with the "Shrink Wrap" effect.

I've actually seen divers descend, suffering from the WRAP and unable to bend their arms enough to reach the inflator(s) on the suit or BCD.
