Yeah, mine came with hundreds of feet of entangling kite string too. I stripped it off and replaced it with 130 ft of 1/8th inch line. Stronger, less entangling, and sufficient for 100 fsw. Personal choice, given my max depth.
Another thing I did with my Manta is install a plug to insert at the bottom spring handle slot to keep it pulled back and free running when I send a bag or SMB up. Don't have to physically hold the spring handle back or loose the reel if it slipped out of my hand. Again, improvements from the real world of diving, not the marketing drawing board.
BTW, Halcyon should give consideration to the fraying of the webbing at the top and bottom of the bp slots. Bad engineering. I've had to electrical tape mine to stop the fraying.
