Redondo Canyon (which gets very very deep!) is accessible from the stairs leading down from Veteran's Park. Off to the south, starting in around 40 fsw are the remains of the old pier. There are a shitpot of neat sites off of PV like the wrecks of the Avalon (69-75 fsw, nice lingcod, rocky str) and the Palawan (130 fsw iron wreck) and then there is the fabled "porclean reef" which i've yet to visit (Terry May posted a description tho. It seems that any area off of Lunada Bay or bluff Cove would be worth exploring /w/ a boat. I'm dyin to just go out on a kayak or small boat one of these years and just do some pure exploration..for places that aren't in any guidebook. There is suppsedly some very interesting sites in Santa Monica Bay, but i've not seen or dove those. The vis ain't the best on the planet, but what does a guy expect what with all that sand, sewage outfalls and urbanization.
