I usually get checked about three times a year.
A year ago the opening night of lobster season, by an undercover female officer in Malibu. I requested a strip search.
Six months ago while a wreck off Palos Verdes. Male uniformed officer, very professional, and went through EVERYTHING. Did not request a strip search.
Two weekends ago at the La Janelle site. Very nice guy. We ended up having a half hour conversation about divers and ecology. He then even hauled my dive gear back to my truck with his patrol unit.
I HATE GETTING STOPPED AND SEARCHED, but each and every time the DFG officers were so relaxed and cool about the whole thing, I mind less and less.
