Good question. I decided to freedive today, and buddied with a guy who has done the Chocolate Lobster for the past three years. He told me that last year he snagged two lobsters within about five minutes. His secret was being faster into the water than the scuba folks, who tended to adjust equipment, etc.
Didn't work for us today, though. We spent the better part of an hour in the water and saw nary a lobster. The 3-foot viz didn't help ...
