Understand, especially in totally dark OE environments, and the need to balance the rig. But for out here with the average primary pistol grip light, how does that throw off the balance, sans the cannister?
Thanks for the copy of JJ's very complete guide to DIR diving. However, bottom line, whether it's thousands of feet into a 300 foot deep cave or bubble butting around a shallow, calm tropical reef, the "holistic integrated" system eventually requires all divers to have the same DIR gear configuration and dive as an identically configured team. Afraid it ain't gonna fly, Orville, not in the real world of recreational diving. But the DIR mindset towards preplanning and safety, THAT will catch on quick and become a bedrock and keystone of basic certification.
