I know one guy who just bought a piece of PCV pipe, cut it into half, put two bngies thourgh and has it on a forearm. He also got small compass and glued it into it at the front. I loved the idea and I have something similar now, right thing in right place in my opinion. As for using it, I use it mainly for log purposes and heading recording. you definitely need something to make notes UW.

Wetnotes are a bit expensive (as everything that has "for diving" on it). Boating shops sell small booklets of waterproof paper for fraction of Wetnotes (tm) price. Works equally well UW.

If you think both solutions suck, there are consoles with slate on the back.

Worst place to have it is retractable junk hanging from your belt or having it clipped to something and flopping around.
