Two hose regulators are no longer being made since Nemrod went out of business last year; they even made a DIN model.
However a select few still dive with them
Some use them for the nostalgia value like an informal group in the LA south bay who give each other repair hints and enjoy using them.
Some photographers like them because the exhaust is behind your head.
An Antarctic researcher, who came to a Sea Divers (SeaDivers.org) meeting, uses one because they are very freeze up resistant; she also uses a Poseidon as a back up reg.
Still others, like me, like to try and use old stuff on occasion, because it is fun to use and it gives you an appreciation for modern equipment.
If you do choose to try one, I would seek out an instructor who understands their use.
That is what I did before I used one.
My friend Ed Johnson, one of the original LA County instructors, gave me a lesson in the use in his pool.
Nevertheless I found this illustration last weekend and thought I would share it.
