I recently replaced the battery in a Monitor I and
just shorted the battery leads at the computer before
soldering in the new battery. BTW, the battery is
available at Frys for $15.
My computer came back to life and does work, but it
now turns itself on in surface mode at random times
without any input from me. I don't know why that's
happening but would appreciate any suggestions
(maybe unsolder battery and reset it again?).
Anyway, I retired it from active service.
