Seems all successful societies have cultivated and embraced technologies. There were always the fringes on the lading edge, but once it became mainstream, it has been embraced. Printing press, Radio, TV, SCUBA, FAX, EMAIL, NITROX... Who knows what will be next... Rebreathers?
Me, well I like my gear and the museum does not want it back yet. I had to hold myself back when the newbie asked what gear to buy. I was going to tell him of the glories of a 20 year old Scubapro reg. Breathes the same at all depths and is adjustable so you can have it the same when upside down. Free parts forever, easy to maintain, etc. And as one who went from jacket to back inflation and finally back to a "jacket", I would have started a fight over BCD styles!
