Well, since I solo anyway, I'd have a hard time answering that. I don't always take the pony anyway unless I plan to be a bit deep. I got the Sea Quest (Air2) originally because it was the simplest and smallest item I could get to possibly cover a gear failure. Also, like you say, I wouldn't take the pony travelling.
From what you say, I may want to try to get a new hose for it if I do put it on a wing.
