I have been freediving with with my camera in earnest for the last 6 years. I have never used scuba gear, but i figure someday when i get old i may give it a try... :)
I love underwater photography and the freedom that freediving allows. I often explore many different places while diving from my skiff. Last Saturday for instance i dove at 4 or 5 different places along the backside of Nic and i wouldn't have been able to do it that easily if i had to keep putting the scuba gear on and off. For me, freediving is part of my minimalist philosophy that allows me to truly be free on the water!
BTW, last Saturday i was diving with the usual (nicolas) entourage of about 50 sea lion pups and on one ascent i was holding my camera with both hands out from my chest and one of the pups saw a 'hoop' and nailed it! I laughed so hard i almost choked!
Franko, have you got any pictures to share?
