I believe it is unashamed attempt by PADI to silence their perceived critics with fear of legal action.
diverlink.com was just an easy target for such an intimidation law suit.
In a way PADI is already successful, because they can afford this whereas just defending themselves is an extreme hardship on diverlink.com.
Perhaps they are taking a calculated risk in taking criticism because they believe they can intimidate many more small players in the dive industry if they prevail in this malicious legal action.
