Mike,

I dove the North Wall and saw octos, wolf eel, jellies and those cool four-foot sea pens. I was planning on making a second dive on Sund Rock, but Hood Sport n' Dive rented me a tank with a leaky valve handle and I didn't have time to get another one.

Good excuse to go back, I guess.

BTW -- here's a recent message I got describing a six gill encounter at Alki.

At about 101' Dragon and I had about a 10 second encounter with
an estimated 8' six gill shark, Dragon described it
first as being a seal and the realizing the eyes were
way to far apart and damn that thing was huge. After
turning to my left and looking down about two feet I
determined it was about 5 feet from me and doing a
swim by, Dragon got two or three photos, I hope they
come out, I didn't have my camera because I decided I
wouldn't see anything. Oh well, it made the perfect
evening dive.

After that Dragon was going to do another dive, but my
other friend shows up and Dragon decides to bag this
one. Little does he know. We head over to cove 3 for
a shallow dive, take an approximate heading of 30
degrees basically towards the float from shore, we get
down to about 68 feet or so and head approximately
north, when guess what comes out of the dark, THE SAME
SHARK! Wow I must say that is cool luck, this is the
first siting for my friend as the shark does a slow
circle around us checking us out, I take the time to
make sure my buddy doesn't freak out, but her eyes
were big. This particular shark has a couple of 3/4
inch or so marks on the left rear side about 3/4 the
way back on the body, white marks that look like
scars. I must say these two dives, made my whole
summer.

Travis
