Best: Do my very own Manta Ray night dive off the Kona Surf Hotel on the Big Island back in 1987. Entered the water by the little chapel on the bay side, tied off a strobe at 20' and headed around the point for a 80+ minute night dive with some of the largest manta's I've ever encountered. It was nearly a full-moon and there were no other dive boats since it was around midnight. FANTASTIC!

Worst: Just a week or so ago ... Sunday 7/28 with a friend from the east coast we were looking for a shore dive since we couldn't make last minutre arrangements for a boat dive. We stopped at Leo Carillo, south swells were building and we tried a beach dive from the north beach ... once we made it through the surf ( a challenge!) we were greeted with 1-2' all the way down to 30' it was a quick 7 minute dive. YUK! And we made it out alive back on to the beach .... :)
