After getting suited up on the street and then trekking down the 80 some odd stairs to the beach, The lifeguard on duty told that I couldn't dive without a snorkel. The cool thing was 1. the lifeguard lent me one he had in his tower, and 2. told me that I didn't have to actually use it but only have it on my person. With that, I tucked it in by bc pocket and off I went. The lifeguard's indifference for whether I actually used the snorkel or not proved to me that once again...the city doesn't care about divers as much as they're looking to cover their asses.
