Not the best time of the year in So Cal for diving, colder water, lower vis, etc. The need for a thick wetsuit, hood, gloves, more lead, etc. quickly leads to task overload. This does not mean that you shouldn't come and enjoy our wonderful diving. But, you might seriously think about hiring a dive master or instructor to go with you on a local boat or go over to Catalina and dive the marine park. There are lots of dive shops here and on the island who could hook you up with a DM or instructor.
