I brought a guest last week that said exactly opposite. He thought the fish color and health looked remarkably well.

"The friendly little batray had fingernail scratch marks on his head, poor thing."

People are instructed on use the tip of fingers in the touch tanks and not the nails. The ray will heal.

"And the poor rays in the shark tank are all chewed up around the edges."

If you're talking about the ray I'm thinking of then he got that prior to it's arrival from being in the wild.
