Tim, it's your boat, and as captin your rules come first. Checking the air could lead to a lawsuit? How about a injured or dead diver? Much bigger lawsuit. So why did you blast the dive buddy for saving his camera, since you don't know if he was proctecting it over saving his wife. It sounds as if the whole thing happened so fast, he may not have had time to realize something was wrong. Of course I do have to admit, your statement of why have a buddy is one more notch for me in why I like to go solo. That way, I know I'm only relying on me.
