I have been using mini DV for about 2 years now and I re-use tapes all the time. Think of them like VCR or 8mm tapes. It is simply a format that digital information is recorded onto. They can be used over several times, but the longer you use them you will eventually start losing picture quality the same as you would with 8mm or VCR tapes.
