No they do not form a calcium skelaton.... I have a few large SW reef tanks and this is my understanding...there are 3 types of coral soft,lps,and sps.... sort corals are more like annomines no calcium deposited, lps or large polyp stoney corals have a calcium skelaton and large annomie like polyps, and sps or small polyp stoney like staghorn and acropora....these are the reef building corals that you think of..... lighting needs go up in the same order as well as water quality...
