A diver account I've read said they experienced a rapid ascent due to the incomming swell. In this case from 26 feet at bottom to 7 feet...did not embolize, so was lucky. It depends on your depth, bottom terrain, swell, location, etc. If you were at enough depth or in deeper water, you wouldn't know anything had happened while underwater....the shallower or closer to bottom, the more noticable. Worst place would be on the beach or just into the surf.
