$5 for an air fill is extremely cheap. As a matter of fact, the majority (if not all) dive shops and boats undercharge for air fills. When you factor in the cost of the compressor, plus maintenance, plus staff time, plus all the overhead of rent, etc. the true cost of the air fill comes out to around $15. So why do shops charge so much less? Because air fills are a service they provide to their regular clients. Trust me - no shop is getting rich off of air fills.
