I knew a guy who had pink gear. He got all the usual remarks, but it was amazing how many women would come up to him and start a conversation because of the color of his gear. He also said he never had to worry about anyone ever wanting to borrow his stuff. :-)
BTW, I do have a black, low volume mask that's DIR compliant, but I keep it in my pocket as a spare. After losing a mask that fit well in high surf I went with the higher visibility yellow, no matter how ugly it is.
