I tried to email an expert in this field but he's out of the office so I'll take a stab at it.

Generally, the harm from *some* red tides or HABs are going to affect bi-valves like clams, oysters, and mussels. Scallops are NOT affected because we don't eat the viscera. We only eat the muscle from a scallop whereas all the other bi-valves involve consumption of the viscera. Always make sure to clean off all the brown goo from your sport-harvested scallops and you should be fine.

Since lobsters are not bi-valves AND since we eat the muscle in the lobster tail, you should be just fine.

Check out the link for more info.
