AVALON - A helicopter has gone down on Santa Catalina Island with two people believed to be on board.
Los Angeles County fire spokesman Chris Freeman says the accident was reported shortly before 2:40 this afternoon two miles north of Isthmus Pier.

Two people aboard the chopper were injured. They were transported by Los Angeles County lifeguards to Isthmus Pier where they were to be airlifted to a hospital. Their conditions and extent of their injuries is not known.

No word yet on the cause of the crash
