PADI did nothing claiming lack of jurisdiction because Drifting Dan wasn't a training incident!? The DM still works as a DM for Ocean Adventures. Chris Grossman did a good job of discussing that here.

My point is that PADI's response to this whole thing tells you something about how they view the role of the DM. In a phrase, it's "responsibility without accountability." Since any sort of accountability would potentially involve PADI in the chain of liability, this is a rational position. It's "cashflow without liability." Good work if you can get it, but the courts don't always agree.
