I have done the jets and swore by them. Good fins when you need the power stroke say in the surge. However, went to the long freediving fins for scuba, and of course freediving, and found my speed increased 50%. Being first at sprints helps gets you to the lobster before the other guy. You also can cover more ground with longfins.

However, they are an inconvenience in tight spaces or beach dives with the conditions in your picture. I have yet to break one and I do abuse them pretty good.

I probably should delete this tip after I regret a little more that I posted it.
