As others reported, my source confirmed that the diver was diving solo using a rebreather, surfaced some distance from the boat, called for help, and the DM made a heroic effort to swim to the diver, but he submerged. Was later found by another diver. It sounds like several on board made a heroic effort to revive him, until pronounced dead by a Navy corpsman. His understanding was that the diver suffered some type of malfunction on the rebreather, surfaced, and thinks he may have ruptured his lungs on ascent. The victims 21 yr old and 16 yr old sons were on board and witnessed the rescue efforts. The 21 yr old son was very upset and was verbally and physically threatening the crew and passengers after the accident. Basically he "lost it".
