Just heard this weekend that Jim Hoffman, one of the pioneers of the industry has called it quits.
I met Jim over 20 years ago when he bought “Scuba Schools of Anaheim” from Gordon Khars. I liked Gordon and wondered about this new shop owner.
Well after a few discussions about solo diving I was a regular customer. He has a great family, his wife, son, and daughter that worked at the shop. I dove with Ira, through Jim for many years, and Jim was the first person in the industry that I had told that I had bought the “Charisma”. He looked right at me and said you bought the “Charisma”? And I said yes.
Jim Hoffman is an easygoing person with a very nice laugh. He always ran a great shop, with expectations of a better shop. He was one of the first to understand the needs of nitrox, and other gas blends and delivers them to the public.
Jim sorry to see you go, but enjoy your time off and you and your family are always welcome on my boat as my guests.
