"the risks greatly outweigh the benefits, particularly for sport divers"
Bottom line: there are sport divers who are very adept, knowledgable, and proficient with the added complexity of rebreathers. But most of us routine rec types are "complexity challenged", i.e. Luddites when it comes to math and electronics. We should stay away from rebreathers regardless our experience and proficiency with basic scuba. We would be accidents waiting to happen. Fortunately, shipwreck artifacts aren't spooked by exhaust bubbles ;-) and the "critters" are just there to be avoided. But that's just my opinionated opinion. 42 years active diving, 3,800 dives world-wide.
