Santa Monica Baykeeper Kelp Restoration and Monitoring Project presents…

Volunteer Diver Training Class

Date: Thursday, Feb. 8
Time: 7 PM
Location: Eco Dive Center, 4027 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City

All interested divers are encouraged to attend! Our kelp restoration project has volunteer opportunities for SCUBA divers who are Rescue certified (or higher). You can check out our website at www.smbaykeeper.org for a background on our diving program, but our basic goal is to bring kelp beds back to where they were historically in the bay. While some year to year fluctuation is normal, 89% of Southern California kelp forests have disappeared since 1967. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn about local marine ecology and kelp biology. Our boat is based in Marina del Rey. We dive year-round. Our boat trips and air fills are free!

Volunteer diver requirements:
Rescue certified
Dive medical
CPR/first aid
Dive insurance
Annual gear service
DAN oxygen administration

Please contact me with any questions.
Thank you,
Laura Bodensteiner
