I took samples (with a F&G collection permit) and gave them to Gordon Hendler, an echinoderms expert. He identified them for me.

I have seen them at all eight of the Channel Islands, and the Coronado Islands in Mexico. They live in holes vacated by boring Piddocks and in cracks and crevices. They are almost never observed in the open.
