My wife and I just got back last Tuesday from a 2+ week trip to Bonaire. It was a fantastic trip despite the unexpected ending. We got in 13 days of diving and 31 total dives. The unexpected ending? On our last scheduled day of diving I had to make an unplanned trip to the local decompression chamber. We didn’t violate our tables and dove what I thought was a safe profile, but the 2-3 dives a day for 13 days played a role in increasing the risk of DSC. The good news, I was symptom free after my 5 hour treatment in the chamber and should make a 100% recovery and my future diving should not be impacted. The bad news – no diving for 6 weeks. I’m looking forward to getting back to California Diving as soon as my window is up, just in time for the nice fall conditions.
